About Us

We Test Fitness Gear So You Can Train Smarter

Science Meets Gym is a team of lifters, coaches, and researchers building the most honest fitness gear resource on the internet.

Why We Started This

If you've ever tried to research fitness equipment online, you already know the problem. Most "review" sites rank products by commission rate, not quality. The writers have never touched the gear. The recommendations change every time a new affiliate deal lands.

We wanted something better. A place where every recommendation is backed by real training data and published research. Where the person writing the review has actually used the equipment for months, not minutes.

How We Test

Every product that earns a review on this site goes through a testing process that most publications would call overkill. We think it's the bare minimum.

Extended real-world use

Every product gets a minimum of 3 months in actual training programs. Not a weekend trial. Real sessions, real wear, real performance tracking over time.

Data collection

We track durability, ease of use, setup time, comfort during high-rep sets, and long-term build quality. Numbers, not feelings.

Research cross-reference

When we make a claim about training outcomes, we back it with published research. If the science doesn't support it, we don't print it.

Honest write-up

Every review covers what we liked, what we didn't, and who should or shouldn't buy it. No product is perfect and we don't pretend otherwise.

What We Believe

Evidence over opinion

Claims backed by training data and published research. If we can measure it, we do.

Real testing, real results

Months of hands-on training with every product. We don't review gear we haven't used.

Specificity matters

300 lbs capacity, not "super strong." 45-second setup, not "quick and easy." Details count.

Built for real athletes

Written for people who actually train. Not beginners looking for motivation posts. Practical, actionable gear advice.

The Team

Science Meets Gym is run by a small group of strength training enthusiasts with backgrounds spanning exercise science, biomechanics, and competitive lifting. We train 4-6 days a week, own more gym equipment than furniture, and spend our free time reading PubMed instead of social media.

We're not a massive publication. We don't cover everything. But what we do cover, we cover better than anyone else.
